From a lifetime of both ordinary and extraordinary drama, I have learned some things (although I am not quite sure what). Like all of us, I’ve found comedy and tragedy, birth and death, love and hate – all the opposed pairings. My conclusion is that any life narrative is inevitably a series of boos and hoorahs. Here, in words and pictures, I present my current creative reactions to that discovery. I have become an original amateur* at photography, at writing, and at life. I am at last free to wander and look as I attempt to fulfil a privileged assignment called: Express Yourself. The impetus for this presentation is the realisation that I am not immortal – all I have, as Buddhists will confirm, is now, so that is when I choose to work.

* of French origin, ‘amateur’ originally denoted a lover of art, one who creates for love, not money.
